frameofmind6: (It's not nice to fool Inuyasha)

Okay, for the last two days I have been turning my room inside out looking for three missing discs from my audio copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I have most of them in one of my big CD/DVD cases, but for dumb reasons that would take too long to explain, discs 5-8 do not have spots in the same case, so they just sort of get shuffled around. I knew when I packed stuff this way that those discs were eventually going to get lost -- and of course, I was right. So for the last two days I've been trying to think of every logical place I could have put them. The obvious ones were my travel cases (where they had been stored originally, since I was traveling when I first put the discs away) and my "discard pile" (a stack of recently-watched DVDs that tends to grow gradually on my desk until I finally get around to putting them all away) -- no sign. Lots of HP discs from other books, but not from that one. So I checked all my DVD and CD cases back to front -- twice -- all my drawers, all my empty jewel cases, even a few random DVD cases -- nothing. I was just about to go through my Deathly Hallows box again and see if I had put these discs in there by mistake -- when it occurred to me that some of the HP discs I had found in the travel case and the discard pile had been Deathly Hallows discs. The problem? I distinctly remember putting away all of my Deathly Hallows discs in their correct spots just a couple of weeks ago. So if those extra discs I had found weren't from Deathly Hallows, and they clearly weren't from Order of the Phoenix (since those discs are all blue, and these ones were more of a brownish color -- and I only have those three HP books on disc), they must have been from...

You guessed it. Exactly where they were supposed to be. And I looked directly at them several times.

(*headdesk*)

The thing that threw me was the color. Most of the HBP discs are shades of green, a few in purple -- but where did the brown come from? Where is that on the book cover? The picture is of Ron and Hermione looking up at something, and if you know the context of the cover, you know that what they're looking at is the dark mark over the castle -- and if your thought process takes you that far, you then know which book it is. But I wasn't thinking that carefully -- I was just looking for green... (*sigh*)

Okay, now I can go to bed...
