If You Give a Moose a Laptop...

Has anybody else noticed a distinct increase in the frequency with which moose (mooses...?) come up on the news in the last week or so? Palin's a moose hunter, there was something about, like, hog-tying a moose onstage at the RNC (not something that actually happened, of course -- just a joke of some kind), the trooper in "troopergate" apparently killed a moose illegally (among other things), which I guess is a big deal in Alaska...

Man. The American moose population is really in the spotlight these days, isn't it? If I didn't know better, I'd think they were the ones behind that blog that pushed for Palin's nomination...trying to raise their profile a bit, you know... (*grin*)

I saw a moose one day near Ogden, UT. Dang, it was big. I wouldn't want to argue with it....

Ah ha! That's their secret weapon -- the moose lobby. They're just going to intimidate us into voting for her, playing on our fear of the retribution of her moose bretheren... (*grin*)

I'm sure there is....probably goes great with penguin wings. *snorting* I'm sure the mooses are backing the Republicans all the way. I do think they lost polar bear vote though. They are a little put out, since she doesn't believe they are endangered. But who am I to argue with a polar bear on that issue??? LOL

Ahh, but that's the genius of it -- they don't need the polar bear vote, because their careless environmental policies and efforts to get polar bears off the threatened species list have simply sped up the process of wiping them out. A little environmental gerrymandering, and poof -- problem solved! (*grin*)

Subsistance hunting is a real way of life for a lot of people in Alaska. I have a friend up there who tries to take a moose every year. Fills the meat larder up fast.

They have pretty strict rules about wasting game too. If you go to Alaska to hunt, you better not be thinking the trophy antlers or whatever is more important than the meat.

Yeah, him! Oh geez, I was driving to go see a movie with a bunch of my housemates yesterday, and they quoted him the whole way there. Too bad I've, uh, never actually seen/heard him myself, lol.
