Tick, tock, tick...
Aug. 17th, 2008 04:45 pmWhoa -- I am so out of whack. I finally managed to break the nocturnal cycle this morning and get up at 9:30-ish (yay!) -- but just now I was sitting here working on my computer, answering a few emails, and somehow I got it into my head that it was after midnight.
It's five o'clock. (*rolls eyes*)
Okay, enough. Back to getting things done...
It's five o'clock. (*rolls eyes*)
The thing is that lately I've been falling asleep around seven am and getting up at about three or four -- so usually by the time I've been up for eight hours, it is around midnight. And remember, my apartment doesn't have any windows -- so everything looks the same in here no matter what, day or night.
It's weird. I really need a job. Or classes. Or something to ground me in reality. Believe me, this summer will prevent me from ever settling for being unemployed for a long period again. It's really annoying... (Not having any money isn't much fun either...)
So, yeah. I'm on the lookout for school-compatible jobs to make up for it. I just applied for one as a cashier at the University's box office, but I think that's a long shot -- sounds like they get a lot of applicants.
Anyway, I rented the first series of the British "Office" the other day -- it's interesting, but of course I'm still partial to the American version. That's partly just because I saw it first (and I've seen more of it, so I'm more attached to the characters -- and of course, the romance is played up a bit more, which is obviously a big draw for a rom-com addict such as I...), but I also had a little trouble following the British version in places. Between the mix of accents and the sort of casual, off-the-cuff, mumbling style, it was just a little hard to keep up with some of the conversations. I think it would grow on me if I watched it a few more times, but I don't have any particular reason to do that. It was so weird watching the Tim character though -- there were moments in there where I just had to laugh, because it was like he was doing a perfect immitation of Jim. Which, of course, is not possible, because he did it first -- so it's really the other way around (*grin*). And I know that...but still. Crazy. Oh -- and he was the guy from the "porn movie" couple in Love, Actually (you know, the guy and girl twho meet while working as stand-ins for a porn flick), which I thought was awesome. And I didn't realize it until I'd actually finished the episodes and was watching the interviews, but the guy who plays Gareth (the model for Dwight) was the skinny pirate who kept dropping his wooden eye in Pirates of the Caribbean. He looked almost familiar as I was watching the episodes, but for some reason the second he appreared in the interviews, I recognized him immediately. I think it was because his hair was longer by then...
