I'm sick. Fun, eh? At least it gave me an excuse to sit at my computer all day, watching TV and writing (not that I would have been doing much else anyway, but now I have an *excuse*). I managed to finish writing chapter five of "Father's House, Husband's House", which I haven't updated since September, and I'm going to post it just as soon as I can convince myself to move to the other computer (my mac sucks -- I can't post anything from here. Well, except livejournal, apparently). I've been going through and cleaning up some of my work for my independent study (writing, that is) as well this week, so hopefully I'll have myself up to speed when school starts again on Monday (I loathe and despise high school -- short breaks, busywork, and classes that I could easily and more efficiently conduct for myself if they'd just hand me the damn textbook and leave me alone are not my thing. I should have done PSEO -- chorus parts in high school musicals are not worth this). I still have yet to start on my application to the University of Michigan, but that's not due until February, and I really have no particular interest in going there anyway, so I'm not too stressed. I've already applied to five other schools, and hopefully I won't even have to consider Michigan -- I really want to go to a private college (Brown U, if all goes well).

Well I sound a bit bitchy, don't I? Must be the cold...

I watched Spiderman 2 last night (*so* much better than the first one -- I love how they go in depth with what it's like for him to live as a superhero on a long-term, day-to-day basis -- as stupid as that sounds in writing...). I believe that sequels actually can be (and often are) better than their predecessors. The second movie in a trilogy has a particular advantage, because by that time the characters and setting have already been introduced and broken in, so they can really dive right in and mess things up for them without having to worry about making everything 'okay' again right away, because that's what the third movie is for. Think about it: Empire Strikes Back is better than A New Hope, The Two Towers is better than Fellowship, Chamber of Secrets was better than Sorcerer's Stone (though Prisoner of Azkaban was better than both -- but that's a seven part series, so the dynamics are different. Each one get's better and better. I'm almost done reading Order of the Phoenix for the second time -- god I love that book. Ooh, I just remembered -- book six comes out in July!). The middle movies/books of all trilogies tend to be darker and have more tension, and thus they tend to be my favorites.

I was thinking of something else to say, but it must have gotten lost somewhere between my brain and the keyboard, so I'll just sign off now. Damn cold...
