Hey all -- so, just found out that both BlackMamba07 and InuSaga have deleted all of their fics. If anyone happens to have copies of any of them (particularly BlackMamba07's oneshots or Full Circle by InuSaga), and would be willing to share, please let me know. I know I'm probably searching in vain, but I figure it's worth a shot.

'Saga's pretty much not allowing the distribution of her works. She's asked that anyone who does have them not share them.

Didn't realize that Mamba had disappeared. Huh.

Yeah, I'm aware of InuSaga's position on the matter -- I was just hoping someone who did have a copy might think she's being as unreasonable about it as I do. If she had a good reason I'd respect her wishes, but as it is I've entirely lost respect for her as an author (if not as a writer), and I don't particularly care how she feels about it -- I just want the damn story. (*sigh*) Just don't get me started on that one...it's giving me an ulcer... ;)

I think Mamba just disappeared recently -- Knittingknots posted about it last night.

Yeah, I can understand. Believe me. I thought Watcher was brilliant. Didn't save it. Gone forever. Although, she is trying to get published and one of the things they tell you is to remove all of your "amateurish" efforts. Most publishers consider fanfiction "amateurish," unfortunately.

No ulcers for you!

Ah. Well, that would explain it. Don't follow her...or most of her cohorts, either; and IY fandom's more or less lost it's luster for me. I no longer care to keep up. XD

I can understand that, but it seems to me it would be just as effective to basically "disown" the stories and leave them in circulation. If no one can connect them to your professional pen name then what harm could they do by existing? If I ever actually get to the point of trying to get published myself I might take my stories down, but I would also send copies of them to pretty much anyone who wrote to me and asked.

Anyway, if she's bound by a contract or something, I would accept that as a good reason. So far I haven't seen any mention of that, however. No apologies, just nothing. Not much room for sympathy from my perspective.

(I should also mention that Full Circle was one of the stories I literally had on a list to copy for safekeeping, and I apparently didn't get to it in time -- so partly I'm just pissed off at myself for being too slow. Still, that one meant a lot to me -- it's a real blow to lose it completely.)

I think it would be more accurate to say that Saga's not approving the distribution of her work.

Hmmm... Okay. Yeah. Bad word choice on my part.

SagaMama just had very rough time with a pushy fan who kept begging for her work. This person contacted many people on her f-list, including me, and pissed her off pretty bad. So, I think she's been turned against distributing her work.

I can understand how that would be annoying -- but presumably she wasn't willing to distribute it before that either, otherwise the pushy fan wouldn't have needed to ask repeatedly or pester her friends. It seems to me that the simple solution would have been to give the fan a copy of the story in the first place -- it's what I would have done.

I know I'm probably being unfair, but the bottom line is that something I loved is gone, and I have no recourse to get it back. I'm feeling a bit robbed. (Irrational, I know, but that's how it feels.) I certainly don't want to pester InuSaga, especially since that would obviously get me nowhere, but it's incredibly frustrating to know there's nothing I can do. I'll get over it, but for the time being it's put me in a really crappy mood.

Through the power of the mystical Wayback Machine, I've managed to find some of BlackMamba's stuff. It's all her gen, but at least it's something? Here

Also found some of 'Saga's stuff. Again, just the stuff that was under an R rating, but still... Here. I'll see what else I can dig up.

Yeah, I tried that a little bit myself -- but unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the wayback machine only has archived copies of the fic lists and introductory pages. When you try to open an actual chapter, it says the page isn't archived. (Unless I'm missing something -- I've never completely understood how that thing was supposed to work...)

Thanks though! ;)

I dislike things that disappear, too - and I really dun wanna go through the IYFG site to fix the fact that these fics have disappeared >.<;;

This reminds me, though, to go through all the REST of the fics I like and save them now.

Oh, I know -- curse this fickle internet... (*sigh*)

Yeah, I've taken it as a kick in the pants to save the ones I really care about sooner rather than later. Already got a couple more big ones copied and filed away.

I'm just wondering if there's a way to turn .html docs into .pdfs...

The man-critter says I should be able to put .html docs onto our Kindle (OMG THAT'D BE GREAT) but I'll have to find out today. xD

I mean, obviously I'm not on InuSaga's flist, but I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of "Oh look I posted all this stuff to public domain NO YOU CAN'T HAVE IT EVAR AGAIN."

I don't know of a direct way, but you can always copy-paste the text into a word doc and save it as a pdf. That's a bit labor-intensive though. Might be able to do it with a pdf printer program too -- I have a free one called "Primo PDF" that I downloaded for one specific file I needed resized, but I haven't really looked at what else it can do yet. Might be worth a try.

That's a bit labor-intensive though.

*nods* I've done it for a few one-shots (even long ones); that wasn't so bad, but a few of the fics I want to snag are many many chapters long and that would get very labor-intensive very quickly.

I will be testing this when I get home (since I can't save things on this decrepit work computer). Hopefully it'll work, though I'd like to consolidate all the chapters into one...

Hmmm... This might be useful...

I will have to experiment after work *nodsnods*

Its been ages since I've forayed in the Inu fandom but I am shocked that BlackMamba07 is gone. As far as what InuSaga is doing but personally I'm too invested in my fanfics to ever
abandon them completely.

This is good to know though for when I venture into becoming published.

Now as far as the fics go it is possible that I may have some of BlackMamba's. I think....but its been so long since I've read this fandom that I would need specific titles. If you could provide me with the titles I could look to see if I have them?

That would be awesome if you happened to have any. Here are the titles I can remember:

Until My Dying Day
Mirrors
I Dreamed of You
A Question of Probability
Tokyo Kid and the Demon
On the Night of the New Moon
This is All Your Fault
Unleashed
Vigil
Demons in the Night (?)

(I'm not sure about the last one -- it sounded familiar in my head, but I don't know if it was one of hers.)
