Bored and Distracted

Having difficulty concentrating on work because I have a Doctor Who fanfic writing itself in the back of my mind...lol...

Also impatiently waiting for one of the "QI" youtubers to upload tonight's episode (which aired on broadcast in Britain about four hours ago already...should be up any time now...).

I sort of love the fact that I'm currently following four "fresh broadcast" shows, and two of them aren't actually available in the U.S. (*grin*) I'm watching "House" and "The Office" here (a little underwhelmed with the latter so far, unfortunately -- really really hoping they take the opportunity to sign off with dignity when Steve leaves at the end of the season), and I'm watching "QI" and "Whites" (a new sitcom starring Alan Davies from "QI") over there. And this summer I was able to see the new episodes of "Would I Lie to You" and "That Mitchell and Web Look" pretty much as they aired. And in a month or two, assuming the youtubers are on the ball, I hope to be able to watch the new series of "Peep Show" and David Tennant's new drama series "Single Father."

Y'know, if it were possible to give up my access to all of the American TV channels in exchange for access to all the British ones, I would so do it. There's way more I'm interested in watching over there right now than there is over here. I haven't seen a commercial for a new fall series on American TV that has interested me for years -- but I saw the BBC's new sort of montage ad for this year and I wanted to see practically everything on it. And not because I really knew anything about them -- they just all looked immediately interesting and made me want to know more. The only thing I would really need to keep from American TV would be Stewart and Colbert -- everything else I could either wait for or give up altogether.

Me too! Especially because most of my favorite American shows are on British TV as well, lol. It's just better writing in general though. Subtler humor, but by far my preference.

Lol -- yeah, that occurred to me too. It would be nice to have only the good stuff from American TV, and have all the other crap weeded out for me automatically...one of the many reasons I'd really, really like to move to Britain someday...

Re. the fanfic -- It's sort of a 10.5/Rose spin-off serial-ish thing (I want to write it like a series of episodes, rather than a long-form plot). Starting from the premise of my oneshot, of course -- that 10 and 10.5 essentially merged into one when 10 regenerated. And I want them to cross paths with the alternate universe Doctor (that is, the Doctor native to the universe they're now occupying). Anyway, we'll see if it makes it from my mind onto paper. Probably shouldn't really devote the time to it...but hell, who am I kidding, I probably will anyway... (*grin*)

I keep suggesting a move to Britain to my husband - he doesn't seem keen on it. Something about jobs. Whatever. :P The six weeks I spent there a couple years ago was a lot of fun, but I don't know if I could do London permanently. Although, it's probably a lot better if you just have the luxury of your own shower, instead of sharing with an entire floor of girls, lol.

I like the sound of this fanfic! :D Looking forward to it, if and (I hope) when it happens.
