Been awhile since I posted much on here -- guess I've just been busy with the move and all the various odd-jobs and freelance gigs I've been taking on since I got back. And my computer has had issues the last couple of days, which were a pain in the ass to fix (learned a new command prompt trick though -- always look on the bright side of life... ;). But I don't feel like posting about all that boring stuff.

I'm up to season six of House now (the most current one) -- it's only available on iTunes right now, as far as I can tell, so I'm just biting the bullet and downloading the episodes rather than waiting to rent the DVDs. I was only going to do the season premiere (after that whopper of a finale, I had to know what happened next), but I was working and it was a relatively slow night, so I decided to keep going, especially since the premiere didn't actually have any of the other characters in it. And of course, once I started in on the regular episodes, it was like eating pistachio nuts. They're really getting into the cliffhanger thing this season. It's a little darker too -- it's been creeping in for awhile, starting with Amber's death and Kutner's suicide and all, but gradually the weight of the relationships and ongoing storylines is increasing, layer by layer. I just watched the episode where Cameron left Chase because of the whole "murdering an evil dictator" thing. Man, it sounds even more dramatic when you list it all out like that -- lol. On the flipside though, I can't even tell you how happy I was to see the old team back together again, even if it was just for a few episodes. I don't for a second think that Cameron is gone forever, but who knows if or when she'll ever actually rejoin the team again. I hope she and Chase find a way to work things out though -- I really liked them together. I'm just glad it was Cameron who actually left, not Chase -- Chase is my favorite. Season four was a low point for me, because with all the manipulative games and the whole "whittling down a new team" thing, Chase and the old team sorta faded into the background most of the time. Anyway, yeah -- speaking objectively, I tend to think the trend towards more dramatic long-term storylines and the increasing dependence on cliffhangers are probably not good signs for the health of the show overall, but personally I think I'll be okay as long as Chase sticks around. And I hope he and Cameron work things out. And I think I hope that something happens with House and Cuddy, but I'd have to see it to find out. That's one of those things that could be fun, but could also be a horrible idea in terms of the life of the show. But hey, they're about to go into their seventh season -- for a character drama, that's a decent life. The ones that go far beyond that tend to be the ensemble dramas that can trade characters in and out gradually over time until you have a completely different cast than the one you started out with. This show can't do that (unless House has a bastard son stashed away who could take over for him...lol) -- and I hate those shows anyway.

(*huggles Chase*) It's so weird how attached I am to him now. I actually hated him early on in the series. He was good looking, but a little too blandly pretty for my tastes (though there's no denying the accent is sexy, especially since I'm a bit of an Anglophile these days -- and yes, I know he's a Bruce. *grin* Close enough...), and he was sort of annoying. Plus, when he sold House out to that investor guy in that arc late in the first season I was really pissed at him -- I seriously wanted him to get fired and just leave the show, and I thought that was what was going to happen (he seemed like a disposable character at that point). But it didn't, and Chase sort of ended up becoming House's punching bag (he always seemed to be picking on him), and I guess that endeared him to me. And then when he started sleeping with Cameron and it became clear that he felt more for her than she did for him (or at least more openly than she allowed herself), that endeared him to me even more. And then, just as I was falling completely in love with him...everybody quit (well, actually Chase got fired...lol...). And that was when the whole "hunt for the new team" started, and the old team became cameo players. Although it was nice to know that Chase and Cameron were really together, at least.

So yeah. Chase is my favorite. (*pets his pretty blonde hair*)

Alrighty, enough crazy talk. Guess I should probably get some sleep. Nighty night all...

If it makes you feel better they had to do the whole Kutner suicide thing simply because the actor playing him got offered a job in the White House and took it. So he left the show and they to write him out some how. Worst part, he just quit the job earlier this year, so it was all kind of pointless lol.

I agree about Chase! At first he was just this sniveling little minion of a character who toadied for anyone with the most power. The accent was great but he was barely handsome to me. His character grew and suddenly he was hot! James Earl Jones playing an evil dictator; brilliant!

I wasn't too broken up about the Kutner suicide thing, really. I mean it was sad and all, of course, and I liked him, but I wasn't overly attached to his character. Mostly it worried me because piling trauma upon trauma can make it difficult to find a way to get the other characters (and thus the show overall) back to normalcy. Anyway, I sorta knew Kutner would leave the show at some point, because I noticed on IMDB that his character only carried through 2009 -- just never expected them to kill him off. That's cool that he left for a job at the White House though, even if he didn't keep it. Better than just getting fired...lol...

Oh, I know -- the JEJ episode was rather dark, but I kept bursting out laughing throughout it because I kept thinking of Darth Vader references...brilliant casting... *grin*

I started losing interest when the old team quit/got fired. The whole reality game show type of thing for choosing the new team was intriguing for awhile, but I *hate* Thirteen. The bisexual thing was so gimmicky and "look at us - we have hot chicks sleeping together this episode!" But you know, I could have lived with that if they hadn't done the Huntington's Disease thing. It's one thing if you don't want to know and you're a schoolteacher or something (which I think is dumb, but that's a different issue), but if you're a freaking doctor??? Hell no. That affects muscle coordination, and no doctor should ethically avoid knowing if, one day, their coordination could go to hell. It's very hard to watch a show when one of the main characters - at least one that you're supposed to like and sympathize with - is utterly repulsive to me. :P (The death knell of watching the show was actually missing most of the episodes during my third year of law school. I was already 'meh' and then, I didn't have the time. Yeah, probably never going to happen.)

Anyway, I also agree about Chase. He really endeared himself to me with his informing Cameron every week that he liked her. That just really hit my romantic streak, lol.

Yeah, I probably would have dropped out around there too if I'd been watching it on broadcast -- but since I had the DVDs and it was around the time I was spending pretty much the entire day packing, I figured I'd just push on through and hope things got better. Which they did, eventually -- the old team got back into the story more during season four. I never got super attached to anyone on the new team, but they were all people I could live with. I didn't/don't mind Thirteen, but I do know what you mean about her. Cutthroat Bitch (aka Amber) was the one who really annoyed the hell out of me. I know she got more palatable near the end, but I still wasn't terribly broken up when she died. Except insofar as I felt bad for Wilson.

I know! I loved that -- he's so adorable when he's being slightly pathetic... ;)

LoL. Yeah, I'm aware that my hatred of Thirteen is pretty much localized to me. :P You're not alone about CTB, of course. I was kind of annoyed that they worked so hard to make everyone hate her and then, they made her actually sympathetic at the end. Like, wut?

Yeah -- to be honest, I still have a little trouble buying that Wilson was so completely in love with her (and that she changed so dramatically) that he's still getting over her like two years later. The year she died was the year of the writer's strike though, so it's a short season -- I'm guessing that they'd originally planned to take more time developing that transition, but they had to speed it up because of the strike. I think it would have been easier to swallow if it had happened more gradually.

I'd forgotten that. It would explain a lot. Still, I feel like they could have worked within those bounds with more success. *shrug*
