I just read a weeping_cock entry that got the quadratic equation stuck in my head. How often does that happen?
Btw, the reason it's possible for me to have an equation "stuck in my head" is because my eleventh grade math teacher taught us to remember it by singing it to the tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel." I'm pretty sure it's the only remotely usable bit of information I've actually retained from any of my math classes, ever. Everything else consists of vague mental pictures of what certain operations were supposed to look like on the page, or miscellaneous steps that no longer have any context. I don't even remember how to do long division -- isn't that sad?
If only more of my math teachers had thought to put things to music... ;)
